Catalogue d'exposition au musée Rosenbach de Philadelphie en 2004 et autres sites.

Catalogue of an exhibition at the Rosenbach Museum & Library, Philadelphia, September 8-December 4, 2005, and other venues.
The Rosenbach retained a leading expert on Girolamo da Carpi, Dr. Gudrun Dauner, to write the catalogue that accompanies "Drawn Together." The catalogue begins with an essay that takes advantage of Dr. Dauner's new scholarship on Girolamo da Carpi to reassess his life and art. For example, it was long assumed that because the artist is documented as having been in Rome from 1549 to 1553, that this was his only trip there. In fact, Dr. Dauner has been able to show that he traveled to Rome and other cities frequently, and that many of the drawings thought to have been made late in his life in Rome may actually date to a much earlier period. The essay also takes stock of Girolamo in the context of his contemporaries, artists such as Michelangelo and Parmigianino, and will help to establish for him the reputation he has long deserved.

The catalogue also features 45 entries, each devoted to a specific drawing by Girolamo da Carpi (or, in a few cases, to his colleagues and followers). The recto sides of the drawings are illustrated in sumptuous color on heavy art stock in a way that makes them come to life. The text describing the drawings is brief enough to appeal to a broad readership, but hundreds of footnotes and a bibliography will more than satisfy the advanced scholar or enable passionate students of the subject to glean more comprehensive information. The entire catalogue is bilingual English/Italian.

45 color plates and 83 black-and-white illustrations.
